Cambridgeshire is an inland county on the eastern part of England. Despite it's position diving in Cambridgeshire is an inportant activity. The dive schools offer courses from beginner level to advanced and it's possible to choose certification from various renowned agencies as most are represented in the diving centers.

Always dive according to your level of training. Never enter the water without checking with the local dive center for safety, additional information, level required for each dive site and without being accompanied by a professional. There is a good inland dive site in Cambridgeshire, the Gildenburg. This was formerly a brick pit whick was turned into a dive training lake and is located east of Peterborough. The maximum depth on Gildenburg is about 22 metres 72 feet) and it's an ideal site for training. There are training platforms at 1 metre (3 feet), 5 metres (15 feet) ,7 metres (23 feet )and 8 metres (26 feet). A number of attractions are to be found here which include a double decker bus, a plane, a cargo plane, a truck and a few boats. Most of them are buoyed to facilitate navigation.
The marine life here is mainly composed of perch and roach.Visibility is not so good, about 3 metres (10 feet) and the bottom is silty. For this reason it's best to try and go diving here when there are not so many people at the same time as disturbing the bottom will decrease the visibility.

There's a canteen and bar where you can get hot and cold snacks and drinks. Also in front of the lake you can enjoy the large grass area with benches and tents used to kit up.

Cambridgeshire has several clubs whose members meet once a week or more if need be. During club meetings outings to other parts of the UK as well as abroad are organised. Non diving activities are also organised and are usually charity events to raise money for needy people.
The dive stores in Cambridgeshire carry a wide range of scuba diving equipment. You will find various brand names and spare parts on sale at competitive prices. Many shops offer repairs of equipment and cylinder testing.
